Rand Paul: Masks are about submission
As the pandemic prepares to step into its second year with a new wave of infections, mainly blue state governors are clamping down on residents and businesses again. But not everyone is on board.
New York and California are talking about locking down again, as the second wave of the coronavirus hits their states. Among other restrictions, mask mandates are the rage – and not just figuratively.
Kentucky Senator and medical doctor Rand Paul (R) tells Breitbart News it is unfair that young people are being forced to miss out on landmark events of their lives.
“They’re being asked to give up their graduation from high school, their graduation from college, their wedding,” he lists. “If we’re not careful, it’s going to be their five-year wedding anniversary, or their ten-year anniversary, and they’re still going to be wearing masks.”
His assessment of the restrictions is a harsh one.
“If Fauci has his way, you’ll never give up on the masks,” Paul warns. “It’s all about submission. They want you to submit to their will, whether there’s any science.”
Paul is certainly not the first person to say as much. Radio talk-show host Jeff Crank, for example, agrees with Senator Paul on both counts.
“I don’t think there is any evidence that masks have made a bit of difference in really slowing the spread,” he responds.
But without a strong pushback, he does not think the mandates are likely to go away any time soon.
“I think it is about control,” Crank continues. “Until the American people rise up and say, ‘Enough’s enough. We’re not going to do this forever,’ we’re going to be doing this.”
