UN general assembly votes to call Temple Mount in Israel solely by Its Muslim name, ignoring Jewish ties to the site
The assemble voted 129 for, 11 against, with 31 nations abstaining on a text referred to as the “Jerusalem resolution.”
On Wednesday, The United Nations General Assembly voted to approve a resolution that ignores the Jewish ties to the Temple Mount, a holy site in the city of Jerusalem, opting to call it solely by its Muslim name of al-Haram al-Sharif.
According to The Jerusalem Post, the assemble voted 129 for 11 against, with 31 nations abstaining on a text referred to as the “Jerusalem resolution,” The Jerusalem Post.

The resolution is reportedly part of the Palestinian Authority and Arab states within the UN to rebrand the Jewish faith’s holiest site as a solely Muslim one.
The UN stated that “Also adopted was a resolution titled ‘Jerusalem,’ in which the Assembly reiterated its determination that Israel took any actions, the occupying Power, to impose its laws, jurisdiction, and administration on the Holy City of Jerusalem are illegal.
“Recalling the 2015 Security Council press statement on Jerusalem, in which the Council called for upholding unchanged the historic status quo at the Haram al-Sharif, the Assembly stressed that a comprehensive, just, and lasting solution to the question of the City of Jerusalem should take into account the legitimate concerns of both the Palestinian and Israeli sides,” the UN continued.
The United States, with opposition to the resolution, said the removal of inclusive terminology for the site, which is sacred to the Christian, Jewish, and Muslim faiths, was of “real and serious concern.”
“It is morally, historically and politically wrong for members of this body to support language that denies” both the Jewish and Christian connections to the Temple Mount and al-Haram al-Sharif, the US envoy told the UN general assembly.
Jerusalem’s Old City location is the holiest site for the Jewish faith and Islam’s third sacred site.
Support for the resolution has dropped since its last approval by the General Assembly in 2018. Despite amendments being made decreasing the number of times al-Haram al-Sharif is mentioned from two to one, the number of countries that abstained has more than doubled from 14 to 31.
All European countries previously supported the text. This time around, several countries voted against or opted to abstain.
Voting against the text was the US, Canada, Czech Republic, Guatemala, Hungary, Israel, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, and Palau.
Voting to abstain was Cameroon, Columbia, Croatia, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Fiji, Germany, Haiti, Honduras, India, Kenya, Lithuania, Madagascar, Netherlands, Panama, Papua New Guinea, Romania, Rwanda, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Togo, Tuvalu, Ukraine, UK, and Vanuatu.
A British envoy said that “the resolution adopted today refers to the holy sites in Jerusalem in purely Islamic terms without recognizing the Jewish terminology of Temple Mount.”
“The UK has made clear for many years that we disagree with this approach – and while we welcome the removal of the majority of these references, we are disappointed that we were unable to find a solution to the final reference,” the envoy said.
“The UK has therefore moved our vote today from a ‘yes’ to an ‘abstention.’ If the unbalanced reference had been removed, the UK would have been ready and willing to vote ‘yes,'” he noted.
“This should not be misunderstood as a reflection of a change in UK policy toward Jerusalem. Instead, it is an important signal of our commitment to recognizing the history of Jerusalem to the three monotheistic religions,” he added.
The EU welcomed the amendments made by the Palestinian Authority and Arab groups but noted that both names should be used when referring to the site.
“The EU reiterates that whenever referring to the Temple Mount/al-Haram al-Sharif in the Jerusalem resolution, both terms, i.e., Temple Mount and al-Haram al-Sharif, should be used,” an EU representative said.
The same is true for any text relating to Jerusalem, he said. “The EU calls on all sides not to deny the historical ties of other religions to the city of Jerusalem and its holy places, thus trying to delegitimize their history.”
Palestinian Ambassador to the UN Riyad Mansour expressed his gratitude towards those that approved the text, stating that it was “an appropriate and needed resolution to give hope and support to our people.”
Mansour noted that it pushed back at attempts to transform the Israeli-Palestinian conflict into a “religious confrontation,” according to The Jerusalem Post.
He also called upon the UN to accept Palestine as a member state. He urged the international body to hold Israel accountable for its redials to withdraw to lines drawn before 1967.
“We will never accept to continue living under occupation in an apartheid system; we deserve freedom and dignity in our homeland,” Mansour said.
Gilad Erdan, Israel’s Ambassador to the UN, accused Palestinians of erasing Jewish history.
“The hypocrisy of these resolutions is truly outrageous. A resolution about Jerusalem that does not refer to its ancient Jewish roots is not an ignorant mistake, but an attempt to distort and rewrite history!” Erdan said in a speech to the Assembly ahead of the vote.
Notes from the Editor
There is so much to take on here, things that need to be resolved that stop dead in its tracks the lies being told. So let’s deal with this one claim at a time.
The Site Is Holy To Muslims Because Mohammad Visited The Mosque There.
This is probably one of the most significant lies that Mohammad visited the site there. When Mohammad was alive, there was no mosque in the city; the Temple Mount was being used as a garbage site; this was later told by Caliph Omar when he conquered the city five years after the death of Mohammad.
When Caliph Omar conquered the city from the Byzantines, he went into the city to see the temple mount, wrote about how visiting the site he was outraged how they showed disrespect where the prophets of old walked and had them clean the area up and put up a wooden prayer hall. This hall stood for 30 years until they built the current Mosque there, so one must ask, how did Mohammad visit a site that did not exist while he was alive?
To see more on this, I have a whole article with sources, many from Islamic sources, that puts this claim to rest. I do know when I wrote this, the death threats were terrific, had to involve the FBI over it, but I have never been one to allow people to silence me, so here is the article:
But this goes so much deeper. In the 1960s, seeing world opinion turning against them due to multiple terrorist attacks, the Munich Massacre, Arafat and Fatah leadership knew they needed something to change public opinion, this is when they created the Palestinian narrative:
So how was the Palestinian narrative created? It turns out Arafat and the KGB were very much involved in this:
What we have at this point is a made-up history (the Palestinian historical narrative) to lay claim to a city and site that Jews have claimed, but did the Arabs always look to Jerusalem as a holy city? This is the interesting part, at no time before 1900 did they do this, other than when the crusaders looked at interest towards the city. The Arabs only interest is keeping the Jews out, that is it. Here are pictures from before Israel, it shows how the Arabs took care of the temple mount and the city:
If you are wondering, why does the Mosque not have a gold dome in these old pictures? That was put on after the Jews had returned, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem at that time, Mohammed Amin al-Husseini, who is the father of the modern Palestinian movement (the same Mufti who ran to Germany and worked with Hitler during the second world war, created Muslim SS forces that were brutal in their persecution and round-up of Jews.
He had the gold applied to the dome, wanted to ensure that the new narrative that Jerusalem was the third most holy site would have a symbol.
There Is No Nation Called Palestine, There Never Has Been
We often see this map; the problem was that there was never a “Palestinian” nation. This was part of the Mandate of Palestine. Why was the Mandate, and why was it set up?
The Mandate was created after the Ottomans gave up all their Middle East holdings to the League of Nations in the Treaty of Sevres at the end of the first world war. The League then, through a democratic vote, set up the Mandates. There were three significant Mandates for territories that had no self-rule. The three were the Mandates of Palestine, Syria, and Mesopotamia, but only the Mandate of Palestine matters here.
Here is what the Mandate states:
The Council of the League of Nations:
Whereas the Principal Allied Powers have agreed, to give effect to the provisions of Article 22 of the Covenant of the League of Nations, to entrust to a Mandatory selected by the said Powers the administration of the territory of Palestine, which formerly belonged to the Turkish Empire, within such boundaries as may be fixed by them; and
Whereas the Principal Allied Powers have also agreed that the Mandatory should be responsible for putting into effect the declaration originally made on November 2nd, 1917, by the Government of His Britannic Majesty, and adopted by the said Powers, in favor of the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people…
The only people it mentions in the Mandate to hold sovereignty over the land are the Jews, there is no mention of the Palestinians, and with good reason, that narrative was not yet made up; at the time of the Mandate, the Jews were called Palestinians, to include this would have been redundant. Here is more that deals with the Palestinian historical claim, how it is all based on fiction:
The claim that land was stolen or occupied is pure nonsense. The Arabs love to show this map, say, “See, look at what we used to have; this is what the Jews stole from us!” But is this true?
Since the Mandate states the land, all of it was for the Jews, how exactly are they occupying this? How can you occupy your land? The UN has been in violation trying to break up the land into two states; the Mandate states explicitly that no land should be given to or ceded to another power in article 5. Furthermore, the UN promised to fulfill the Mandate; by trying to split it up, they have done nothing but violate their charter.
The Mandatory shall be responsible for seeing that no Palestine territory shall be ceded or leased to, or in any way placed under the control of the Government of any foreign Power.
So looking at the map (the one in 1946), the first map was of the Mandate, which was never a nation called Palestine; it was a mandate.
The second map is UN Res. 181; it turns out the Arabs not only rejected this, they then declared war to prevent the recreation of Israel. Including this map is misleading.
The third map is the ceasefire lines after the war of 48, at no time did the Arabs who today claim to be Palestinians make any claim to the land, in the Palestinians first charter, created in 1964, they stated:
Article 24: This Organization does not exercise any territorial sovereignty over the West Bank in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, on the Gaza Strip or in the Himmah Area. Its activities will be on the national popular level in the liberational, organizational, political and financial fields.
So in 1964, the Arabs there did not claim Gaza or what now is called the West Bank (Judea and Samaria), so what changed between 1964 and 1968 when they rewrote their charter? Could that be the 1967 war where Israel expelled Jordan and Egypt from Jewish land granted to them in the Mandate?
If you wish to read more on this, I go into detail with a three-part series that looks at the claim that Israel stole the land from the Arabs:
The Jews Ethnically Cleansed The Land Of Arabs Then Occupied It
This is another lie; if you go to the accounts from the day, you find a completely different narrative than what is being told today. As time has gone, the Arabs there hope you don’t bother with research, for the second you do, their story falls apart.
So did Israelis ethnically clean the land of Arabs as the Arabs did with the Jews after the war? Here is what the Arabs did with their Jews; you can see the before and after the population of Jews in their land:
This is ethnic cleansing, where Jews were forced out of the land they and their ancestors were part of for years; they were forced out with only their clothes on their backs. Yet the Arabs claim the same was done to them by the Jews but is this the truth?
Here is what Abbas said happened:
Here are articles from that time:
“The Arab armies entered Palestine to protect the Palestinians from the Zionist tyranny but, instead they abandoned them, forced them to emigrate and to leave their homeland, imposed upon them a political and ideological blockade and threw them into prisons similar to the ghettos in which the Jews used to live in eastern Europe as if we were condemned to change places with them. The Arab states succeeded in scattering the Palestinians and in destroying their unity.”abu-Mazen (Falastin el-Th’ora, Beirut, March 1976)
Secretary-General of the Arab League, Azzam Pasha, agreed that Arab leaders encouraged Palestinians to leave their homes temporarily: “It was promised that conquering Palestine would be a military picnic, our advice to the Palestinians was to temporarily leave their homes.” (Al-Huda, Lebanon June 5th, 1951).
Syrian Prime Minister Khalid Al-Azam (in his book Memories, 1973) laments and writes:
“We brought disaster on the refugees when we urged them to abandon their homes.”
“The Arab Exodus …was not caused by the actual battle, but by the exaggerated description spread by the Arab leaders to incite them to fight the Jews. …For the flight and fall of the other villages, it is our leaders who are responsible because of their dissemination of rumors exaggerating Jewish crimes and describing them as atrocities to inflame the Arabs … By spreading rumors of Jewish atrocities, killings of women and children, etc., they instilled fear and terror in the hearts of the Arabs in Palestine, until they fled leaving their homes and properties to the enemy.”The Jordanian daily newspaper Al Urdun, April 9, 1953
“The wholesale exodus was due partly to the belief of the Arabs, encouraged by the boasting of an unrealistic press and the irresponsible utterances of some of the Arab leaders that it could be only a matter of some weeks before the Jews were defeated by the armies of the Arab states, and the Palestinian Arabs enabled to re-enter and retake possession of the country.”Edward Atiyah (Secretary of the Arab League, London, The Arabs, 1955, p. 183)
I could fill pages, but if you want to see news articles that destroy this narrative, please look at this article:
Israel Is Practicing Apartheid Against The Arabs
This is another great lie, an insult to the people in South Africa that suffered under this.
To understand why the claim is a lie, we first have to look at South African apartheid laws and how they were applied, then look to Israel.
In South Africa, blacks were not allowed citizenship; they could not possess the land, yet in Israel, not only are there Israeli Arabs, but they also have complete control over the land they have deeds to.
In South Africa, Blacks could not go to the courts set up for white South Africans; they had to go to their courts, yet in Israel, Arabs and Jews visit the same court, many times the judge is an Arab. On the Israeli Supreme Court sits an Arab justice. In Ramallah and Gaza, they demand to be Jew-free.
In South Africa, blacks could not have any representation or vote; in Israel, the Knesset comprises 20% Arabs elected by their constituents. The Joint List, an Arab unity party, is the third-largest political party in Israel. Now, in Gaza and Ramallah, they demand to be Jew-free; no Jew can live there, own property, or vote; they can’t even visit these sites; this is the very definition of apartheid.
It turns out when you dig deep into Arab claims, you find either outright lies, or they are accusing Israel of their actions. Here we dig deeper into the claims of apartheid and its relation to Israel.
We have such a deep web of lies, and the UN today is very much part of this. To find the truth, you have to dig; soon, you find out most of what is being claimed is on a lie built on another lie.
We need to push our representatives to cut off all funding to the UN; they need to go the way of the League of Nations, a nice historical footnote, nothing more.
